Weddings and Receptions at the Carnegie Science Center

What a unique venue for a Pittsburgh Wedding!!Â So much to see and do forÂ you AND your guests!Â There are times when my brides worry that their guests will be bored (especially during cocktail hour).Â I assure them that they of course won’t be (because I always see the guests having a great time!).Â You’ll DEFINITELY not need to worry if you’re wedding is at the Carnegie Science Center.Â It is a fantastic place for all ages!

I recently had the great opportunity to do a styled shoot at the Science Center.Â I was blown away by the artistry of Greensinner and E.F. Lighting! We started in the Works Theater of the Science Center…

The mixture of beautiful, classic wedding decor with a colorful and educational science backdrop was pretty awesome…

As the photographer, I had the opportunity to sample the food.Â It. Was. Awesome!!!!Â I’d also like to add that the Tesla coil scared the poop out of me, too!Â It was so loud!

How cute are the wine glasses and the electrostatic generator?!

LOOK AT THIS!Â These are called “boo bubbles” and are so cool to play with.Â They are made with liquid soap and dry ice.Â This is great entertainment for your guests (especially kids!).

We also made ice cream with dry ice!

The planetarium is a perfect place for a wedding ceremony.Â Comfy seats, privacy…..perfect.

Jimmy Lohr of GreenSinner did all of the flowers for our shoot.Â I think this was his first time making a floral wreath for a robot (who talked to us!!).

Our couple also had the chance to make their own “cocktail”….creating a chemical reaction!

This is the perfect place for science nerds to have their wedding!! What more could you ask for?!

KATIE & ERIK ARE MARRIED!!!

Katie and Erik’s St. Paul Cathedral and Pittsburgh Airport Marriott wedding took place on a beautiful summer day here in Pittsburgh! It was a stark contrast to their engagement session this past winter in the snow!

We started the day at the hotel with both the bride and the groom…

The groom and the groomsmen always have fun hanging out before the wedding…

Katie and Erik had a first look in Mellon Park before their wedding ceremony…

It was a sweltering hot day, but you’d never know it from the smiles on their faces!

Can we take a moment and appreciate the amazing Hayley Paige jeweled bolero Katie is wearing?! Â She was STUNNING on her wedding day!!

So much beauty in one photo! Â I adore all of the different styles of bridesmaids dresses. Â The white and soft pink flowers were wrapped with scraps from each of the girls’ dresses after they were altered! Â Clever, right?!

The Pittsburgh Airport Marriott was decked out in soft pink uplighting, and the tables adorned with gold chargers and matching gold Chiavari chairs…

Katie and Erik’s cookie table was huge!!

POINT STATE PARK AND MT. WASHINGTON ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS

Fall is one of the most popular times of the year for engagement photos. Â Shawn and Kelli’s wedding is planned for August this year. Â Loving all things Pittsburgh, they’ve decided to celebrate their marriage with friends and family at the Grand Concourse in Station Square. Â Since their wedding photos would have a summery backdrop, they opted for the fall foliage for their engagement photos.

Kelli and Shawn got engaged at one of the most beautiful locations in the city – the West End Overlook.

MELLON PARK PITTSBURGH ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS

Victoria and Dan flew in from Arizona for their engagement session at Mellon Park. Â Victoria said she wanted a lot of greenery in her photos, so I felt this was the place to go! Â Not only was it green and lush, but it also was private, as it was pretty much empty.

I had a great time getting to know Victoria and Dan, and I’m psyched for their wedding next year at Heinz Chapel and their reception at the Omni William Penn Grand Ballroom!

It was really windy that day…in fact it started to rain towards the end of our session. Â But the wind made Victoria’s hair flow beautifully!

SCHENLEY PARK AND PHIPPS CONSERVATORY WINTER ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Even though Katie and Erik had a very cold and snowy engagement session, their wedding will be sunny and hot this July at St. Paul’s Cathedral! Â Afterwards, they will celebrate their marriage with family and friends at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott! Â I can’t WAIT!!

After we took some landscape photos up at the Schenley Oval, we headed down to Phipps just as the sun was setting. Â At this point, we couldn’t feel our feet, hands, or noses! Â But it was all worth it in the end!

Some brides like their wedding cakes to mirror their gowns. Â Others like to use their wedding cake as an extension of their personality. Â And then there are the brides who don’t like cake at all! Â It takes all kinds, people. Â Eccentricity andÂ uniqueness emanates from my brides……that’s why I love them so much!

BEST OF 2014 – BRIDAL PORTRAITS

My brides are very open-minded and trust me to capture their best angles. Â The words I hear most often from my brides are “Whatever you think, Alisa! Â IÂ trust you! Â You’re the boss! Â You’ve done this a million times!” Â ….Music to my ears. 🙂

I just *adore* Ashley’s makeup. Dom Dozier from Pretty Hair Salon is mega-awesome. Â Ashley was a little hesitant about having such a bold color on her lips, but look how GORGEOUS it looks! Â When it comes to communicating with your makeup artist: Be open to suggestions and be honest with your feedback.

I watched the entire process of Alaina having her makeup done by Allison Roth of Allison Roth Studio. Â I’m just amazed at the level of perfection.

SUSAN AND TYLER ARE MARRIED!!!

It was a beautiful, but windy day for Susan and Tyler’s wedding at the Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe. Â Spring weddings in Pittsburgh are hit or miss with the weather, but we stayed inside and did all the photos in the lobby. Â It worked out awesomely!

Susan and Tyler opted to have a small, intimate wedding, with just family members and close friends in attendance. Â It was a lovely atmosphere to be a part of. Â I started the day with Susan as she got ready….

RACHEL & JORDAN ARE MARRIED!!!

The first Weddings by Alisa wedding of 2017 belongs to Rachel and Jordan! Â They had an unseasonably warm day for February in Pittsburgh. Â We really lucked out!

Rachel and Jordan’s day was filled with family, friends, and a LOTÂ of love. Â It was an honor to have witnessedÂ every precious moment that occurred throughout the day. Â Wedding days are truly amazing events!

I was with Rachel and her bridesmaids as they prepared for the day at Rachel’s home…

Rachel had so many beautiful details, some of which were extremely important to her, like the hat her mother wore on her wedding day toÂ the photo charm of her mother that she carried on her bouquet…

This. Dog. Is. Amazing. Â His name is Theo, and he was around for a LOT of photos throughout the day! Â I love when my brides incorporate their pets into their wedding day!

Rachel had a custom tuxedo made for her dog!! Â How awesome is that?! She is a woman after my own heart!! Â He was so patient as she put it on him!

When you’re married at St. Mary of the Mount, the first stop for wedding photos is Mt. Washington!

We also stopped by the campus of Duquesne University (Rachel’s alma mater) for some quick photos…

The Power Center at Duquesne was beautiful decorated for their gray and red wedding reception!

The Jason Kendall Band provided awesome music as always!
